RIGHT TO INFORMATION (RTI) CELL IN MORAN COMMERCE COLLEGE (MCC)

     The Right to Information Act, 2005 has been enacted by the Parliament and it Came into force from 15 June,2005. Objectives of this Act are to empower the citizens, promote transparency, contain corruption, accountability in the working of the public authorities and make our democracy work forthe people in realsense.

Who are Public Authorities under this Act?

          According toUGC Guidelines, all Universities and Colleges established by the law made by Parliament or by State Legislature or by notification by the appropriate government or owned, controlled or substantially financed directly or indirectly by funds provided by the government shall come within the meaning of a Public Authority under this Act.

     Therefore, under the purview of the Act, Moran Commerce College has constituted its Right to Information (RTI) Cell on 11 of January/2023 (Wednesday) as per the norms laid by NAAC, under the supervision of College Governing Body.

OBJECTIVES OF RTI CELL WITH REGARD TO MORAN COMMERCE COLLEGE (MCC)

  1. To promote transparency and accountability in the functioning of the college.
  2. To empower college students, as the law will promote the participation of college students in official decisions, directly affecting their lives.
  3. To disseminate and publish certain categories of information to the general public requesting the same.
  4. To build trust amongthe students and guardians by effectively implementing the RTI Act.
  5. To have an effective and efficient record management technique by facilitating the provisions of information in response to public interest.

      In observance of the Right toInformation Act, 2005 the following officers are designated as the Public Information Officer (PIO), Assistant Public Information Officer and the Appellete Authority of Moran Commerce College, Moran. These officials would hold responsibility of complying with any query under RTI Act, 2005 with regard to our college

ROLE OF APPELLETE AUTHORITY

     The Appellete Authority will receive appeals, directly or through Public Information Officer (PIO) as required under the RTI Act.

PROCEDURE OF SUBMITTING APPLICATION UNDER RTI ACT

     As per the provisions of the Right toInformation Act, 2005any information regarding college and the purview of ‘permitted information’ may be obtained from the designated PIO by submitting an application along with the prescribed fee of Rs.10/ vide Indian Postal Order/ Demand Draft in favour of Principal, Moran Commerce College payable at Moran.
